When I think of the title creative lady, plenty of deserving women come to mind. Today’s profile highlights one creative who most definitely deserves a cape all her own. Say hello to incredibly talented Jette Virdi!
The founder of Created + Found homeware range and food stylist, Jette is a true original who lives life with big, wide eyes, soaking it all up.
In addition to showing us her artfully designed homeware range C+F, she inadvertently gives us all a lesson on living with great joy, intellect, and finding gratitude in the little things.
Get a peek into her poetic life below. Then figure out how you can somehow order one of whatever she’s having, I mean designing 🙂
What was the best piece of advice you were given when you were starting out?
Don’t take it personally. When you start your own business it’s hard, it’s your baby but no one else will ever feel that way. You have to learn that not everyone will love your stuff, nothing ever suits everyone so just believe in what you’re doing and carry on.
So many times! I’ve made so many mistakes, not pricing myself right, not trusting my gut but that’s the good thing. If you’re constantly learning you’re moving forward and thats an amazing thing.
It wasn’t until 2013 that I even knew what a food stylist was! And I was 30 years old. I’d always worked for myself but, you know I never had found that thing. Launching my own homeware range is a very simple extension of that. I got the courage in 2015 to finally go for it, why not?I have the desire, the passion and the skill to create beautiful things, I’d regret not going for it.
Haha, so many! I worry about everything, to whether people like me, like my products, are happy with my work etc. But really at the end of the day, you have to try and let that all go because everybody else is worrying about exactly the same thing! It’s a bad cycle to get into.
My Mum, all the time. She’s strong, confident, weak and adventurous. She’s taught me to go for it, whatever “it” is. Be happy, try your best and only compete with yourself. Life is too short for all the other stuff.
It sounds silly and very old fashioned but a pencil and notebook. I make notes constantly – colours, patterns, shapes, ideas etc and it all goes into my notebooks.
Being someone who connects people together and supporting others around me. Most people come to me when they’re a bit down creatively or with their work and I love giving them a gentle kick up the bum telling them how awesome they are and that anything is possible.
It needs more community, sharing and support. Be there for each other, share your knowledge, don’t keep it to yourself.
